Adams Peak, known as Sri Pada, meaning sacred foot print, is one of the sacred mountains of Sri Lanka. Sri Pada mountain is located in the central part of the island; this 2,243-meter peak is a major pilgrimage site and must-visit destination for both spiritual travelers. Adam’s Peak is a sacred place for multiple religions. Buddhists believe that the footprint is Lord Buddha's, and Hindus associate the footprint with Lord Shiva, while Christians and Muslims regard it as the footprint of Adam. The pilgrim season is from December to May, and the trek is begun in the middle of the night to reach the summit in time for a breathtaking sunrise. Adam’s Peak is located within the peak wilderness place, and it is a home for the variety of wildlife. Including different species of birds, plants, and animals. The mountain has been a site of pilgrimage for over a thousand years, and many ancient temples and shrines are located around the Adam’s Peak. The best time to visit Adam’s Peak is during the pilgrimage time.
